NFL games started by QB's who played at Michigan & Ohio State this century...

OSU 61 (Fields 26, Haskins 13, Pryor 10, Smith 8, Krenzel 5)
Michigan 56 (Henne 54, Navarre 1, Henson 1)

To this point, almost a quarter of the way into the century, neither OSU nor Michigan has produced an established NFL starting QB.

Fields, who just turned 24, is already second among all Michigan/OSU QB's of this century in NFL starts. And if he has the year many expect from him this season, he establishes himself as the best NFL QB to come out of Michigan or OSU in the 2000's - the first established starter from either school.

(Anyone tries to make the case that Tom Brady counts because he played one game that kicked off 20 hours into this century... I will hack NORAD like Matthew Broderick in "War Games" and launch a cruise missile at your house.)

Every QB to start a game for Michigan from 1985 (Harbaugh) through 2007 (Henne & Mallett) - 23 seasons - with the exception of Michael Taylor/Demetrius Brown in 1987-88 - cashed an NFL paycheck at some point.

That list: Harbaugh, Grbac, Collins, Griese, Dreisbach, Brady, Henson, Navarre, Henne, Mallett.

No QB to start a game for Michigan since Henne & Mallett in 2007 has started an NFL game.

That list: Threet, Sheridan, Forcier, Robinson, Gardner, Morris, Rudock, Speight, O'Korn, Peters, Patterson.

Only Jake Rudock (11 att) and Denard Robinson (2 att) from that list even threw an NFL pass.

We really don't have much of a leg to stand on when we make fun of OSU on this topic. We used to arguably be QB U. But when you add in Cade (and maybe MIlton), I think JJ will break a run of 14 years of Michigan QB's not starting an NFL game.
