Michigan needs this dual in a bad way. After a humbling 29-6 defeat to the hands of the top-ranked Penn State Nittany Lions, the #3 Wolverines take on the #15 Scarlet Knights of Rutgers. Airing on BTN+ at 4:00 PM EST, the Wolverines should be able to handle this dual meet with relative ease.
The dual should be a back-and-forth affair from 125 through 149, as the Scarlet Knights do have a few strong wrestlers, including four-time All-American Sebastian Rivera at 141. However, outside of the lower weights, Michigan has a clear advantage at 157, 165, and 174. The Wolverines feature three top-15 wrestlers against a trio of unranked wrestlers from the Scarlet Knights.
The highlight match of the dual comes at 184, where second-ranked Myles Amine will battle the impressive freshman John Poznanski. This weight is a joy to watch this year, and Poznanski is one of the better freshmen in the sport right now. 197 brings probably the second-bast match of the day with #8 Brucki taking on #12 Greg Bulsak of Rutgers. The dual should be decisively in Michigan’s favor by that point (knock on wood), but this match will help solidify where Brucki stands in the conference.
Finally, Mason Parris looks to get back on track after a tough loss to Kerkvliet on Friday, and should do so against an unranked heavyweight foe from Rutgers.
I’ll provide a match-by-match recap a bit later, but will be away from my computer during the actual dual. I’ll update the match notes tonight, so keep an eye out!
