It’s a bit like being captured in the Game of Thrones and being given the choice of having your head cut off or being burned at the stake, but why the hell not.
1. Worse coach: Harbaugh or Patricia?
2. Worse, let’s call it personnel coordinator: Harbaugh or Quinn?
For me its:
1. Harbaugh. There are some talent deficits at a few positions, but the roster still consists primarily of Top 10 recruiting classes. Probably the biggest waste of talent in D1. Even though Patricia may be the worst head coach in the NFL, Lions have so many holes in their lineup that they’d probably be mediocre at best even with Bellichek coaching. But even Patricia likely would have come up with a game plan good enough to beat Sparty. For pure waste of talent, it’s Harbaugh.
2. Quinn by a mile. He has more New England recruits than Don Brown. Taking a tight end with the #8 pick in the draft instead of using the pick on defense, Teez Tabor, not trading #3 pick down to pick up assets instead of locking in on his primary pick and taking an overrated Okudah, use his 2nd round pick on another running back instead of on the defensive front seven. I could go on and on. Other than some questionable refusals to offer certain recruits and wasting far too much time chasing rainbows (Najee Harris), Harbaugh has generally recruited well.
In wasting talent, Harbaugh is in a class by himself. In coming up with winning game plans, they both stink. In mis-assessing players and roster constructing Harbaugh is bad, but Quinn is worse than awful.
Verdict: except for our hoops and non-revenue teams, it really sucks being a state of Michigan sports team.
What say you?
