So...a couple of disclaimers. There is no comparison between male and female players as long as you're comparing apples to apples. (E.g. college v. college, pro v. pro) That said, there are some very talented female players in college bball. Also, as is mentioned all the time, the female game tends to be much more fundamentally sound, and technical at the college level. That's where the compliments end.
As I clicked on ESPN (I know...first mistake) this morning I saw the cover story about UCONN winning the NC...again. Why do they even bother including the other 64 (or so) teams? There's only going to be 2-3 with a legitimate chance of winning every year. It's always UCONN, Tenn, ND, UNC, Duke, etc. The difference between 2-3 teams with a legit chance, and the rest of the field is alarming.
It's insane to me that Geno criticized the men's game. I realize some of his criticism's were correct, but when you compare the men's and women's game, there is no comparision and it reeks of Geno distracting people from how bad the women's game is.
Another thing that always bugs me regarding the aforementioned ESPN coverage is the amount of coverage they give women's bball relative to other sports. It's so obvious they're trying to foist it upon us. The way they cover it suggests we're somehow not evolved enough if we don't like the women's game.
This is my morning rant. I realize I'm not covering any new ground here, but it was just an irritating way to start my day.
