First, its Rutgers and it's hard to take much positive even from a win but 1. Rutgers is a much different team under Schiano and 2. Our team needed this for confidence sake and I'm proud of the guys to get something positive in the locker room.
Offense
1. McNamara is a dude. I was blind to Milton's talent and I still think he would be a great fit for this offense if we were a run first team with a good line..we are not that.
2. RPO took off with Mcnamara oddly enough or atleast it looked that way. Milton often held the ball too long and didn't take what the defense was giving him. Cade was dissecting the defense and making the right read almost everytime.
3. Haskins is a damn good player, solid burst. Won't be remembered highly in the way Deveon Smith is kind of forgotten because he's not flashy.
4. They are young so need to let them get strength and conditioning but the newbies up front aren't playing well. Zinter looks lost and needs to improve foot quickness and flexibility (could say that for most)
Defense:
1. For all his flaws, I will always have a positive memory of Carlo Kemp. He just gives a damn and I love it.
2. Secondary was competing tonight, still not sure how we are as small as we are at corner. I like Green and the way he plays but he gets bullied as a tackler, just not big enough to hold up right now. Needs to put on weight and eventually be a full time nickel. We need guys to develop on the outside.
3. Like seeing Ojabo in there, didn't actually see if he had much success but that guy looks the part atleast.
I don't think this game has much meaning to it in the long run but if you've been in a locker room before, something that seems like an insignificant win like this can still be an important moment for a team (whether Harbaugh is here or not). There's now a building belief in Mcnamara and for once in a month, a positive week of meetings and practice. Onward.
