I was a talent poor player. However, that didn’t stop me from starting over guys I had no business beating out. Why? I sold out every play..emotionally and physically. I played hurt (dislocated shoulder, ACL,etc.)...and I was a mean player. Think of what Conrad Dobler was like in high school..that would be me. I did things on the football field of play that would be considered assault and with possible jail time on a regular basis. Why? Because it kept me on the field. To this day, there is nothing I experienced in life that compares to being on that field..being a part of the team. Going by the statistics I had no business being out there. But there is no statistical category for personal drive..for heart. Thank the universe for that. That’s why sabremetrics will always fail when it comes to football. Football is a game of emotion and momentum at its most fundamental state...so important the stats really don’t matter when it comes to who wins and who loses.

It’s about who wants it more.

Rant over.
