I was just reading about how Pacioretty is likely to be named captain of the Canadiens. He's already the first American to score 30 in a season for them (done it twice) and he's on pace for 40 this year and leads the league in plus/minus. It got me thinking, is he having the best NHL career of anyone to ever come out of Michigan? It's still probably a touch early to bestow that honor on him, but who've you got? Who's he chasing? Cammalleri? Red?

He's really turned into a great player at that level. Seems like a really good guy too.

Well if you consider "Original 6" hockey

or even "original 12" hockey of the late 1960s to mid-1970s, vs the 30-team NHL of today, it has to be Red.

However, Turco and Knuble also need to be in the conversation.

How could this NOT be Aaron Ward?

That's sarcasm, but is there any other Michigan alum who won 3 Stanley Cups? Does he leads U-M alums in that particular metric? Berenson I know won 2, Madden won a couple with the Devils.

Along with Ward, Madden won three as did Pat Hughes.
