Sounds like Harbaugh will be back next year, pending he decides to step down. That probably means an extension will have to be announced (which the general fan base will probably be up in arms about, but that’s another issue). Even with an extension, Harbaugh will probably be viewed as a lame duck and/or risky coach to join considering he will be under the microscope and another lousy year could result in his actual firing. It sounds like Harbaugh will plan on making wholesale coaching staff changes. But what good coaches will want to come here, knowing it could be a very short term proposition? Why would a good coach leave a stable situation to coach here next year? This is the part that really concerns me about the bring Harbaugh back for another year plan. I don’t see how this viably works.
