I thought they had two solid choices in Schmidt from St. Bonnys (an alumnus too) and Eisley. Different backgrounds but I think you could have made a case for either.
Instead they hire Earl Grant from Charleston who has no ties to the area and didn't exactly tear it up in that conference (two winning years in 7 seasons).
