Weekend Preview Fri @UMass Lowell Sat @Boston U

Friday UMass Lowell USCHO-Ranked #7

Coach Norm Bazin has led the River Hawks to the top echelon of college hockey in his four years at UMass Lowell, twice named Hockey East Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012. Bazin was also named NCAA Div 1 Coach of the Year in 2012 for leading the River Hawks to a Frozen Four appearance.

UMass Lowell ices an even younger squad than Michigan in 2014-15 with 14 freshmen on their roster. That hasn't prevented them from starting quickly. They've posted a 5-2 win over Boston College and a win and a tie against Quinnipiac last weekend.

Sophomore forwards Evan Campbell and Joe Gambardella have paced the River Hawk offense in the opening three games.

Saturday Boston U USCHO Ranked #12

On offense, the Terriers rely on widely-acclaimed freshman standout Jack Eichel, augmented by the talents of junior Danny O'Regan and sophomore Robbie Baillargeon. After walloping Massachusetts, 8-1 in their only official game, Boston U also posted a 6-4 win over the NTDP U-18 team last weekend.

Expect Eichel, a consensus top two pick in next June's NHL entry draft, to feature his talents in what will likely be his only year with the Terriers before starting his NHL career next season. He's simply that good.
