Hopefully the team can finish 9-3 and win a 10th bowl game. The potential upside for next season is off the charts.
If Grant Newsome is back, we could have Newsome, Bredeson, Ruiz, Big Mike and an improving JBB or a Filiaga/Stueber - you can run behind those guys with Higdon, Evans and Walker. Think we finally see the Stanford type run game next season - we're seeing a nice preview of it lately. You need at the very least an average QB to make that happen - Speight was going to be that, O'Korn was not that, and Peters has a chance to be the best of the three.
The defense was been top 10 the last 3 years without a great running game - you give Don Brown more time on the sideline for his unit, it's only going to be better.
Next season is probably going to be the first season of the new TIGHT END U with Gentry, Mckeon and Wheat another year in the program - throw in Muhammad as a true freshman.
At WR, you'll have DPJ and Collins with a year under their belt, Black healthy and Oliver Martin ready to impact (really surprised it hasn't been this season)
And of course you have Mr. Peters. Would like to see an 18 for 25, 200 to 250 yards, 2 TD for the next two games - throw an INT or 2 in there as part of the learning curve. You can live with 1-2 mistakes if he's putting pressure on the defense the entire game. With a good to great defense, throwing an INT down the field isn't a big deal. If he keeps the safeties out of the box, we're going to run for over 200 yards, which will then open up the passing game.
