I received an answer to my email to the development office where I said we would be putting a hold on donations until NIL straightened out. Evidently the development office forwarded my email to one of the graduate schools to which we donate, and they responded, with a CC to someone in the athletic department. Below is part of what they sent (I left out the personal chit chat lol). I suspect the grad school development officer got the language from the athletic department, but I was impressed they answered and that if I am interested they would be willing to have a phone conversation.

Principally, you make a lot of great points here...would very much welcome the chance to speak further with you about it.

While we do have a policy that is ever-evolving as certain things are brought to the table, admittedly there is nothing formal out currently that outlines the NIL program we will pursue moving forward. We hope to have that finalized in the next couple weeks, and are working on disclosures of certain companies, a marketplace for student athletes, thinking about educational considerations, among many others items.

Re: roadblocks currently in place for students, we'd love to hear more about your thoughts on that. There is a committee in the Athletics Department where they go through the disclosures that student athletes submit and respond accordingly. Every situation is different - they do sometimes ask students to revise based on other partnerships, but many go through seamlessly.

We are absolutely educating student athletes and letting them know that the University is in favor of them profiting off their image and likeness. That being said, while we help with facilitation, we are not in the position where we can or should be an agent to procure partnerships for our student athletes. Our primary focus is to educate them on the most important information for them to know, and allow them to carry their own partnerships forward from an entrepreneurial perspective.

I know this is a lot of information, so again we'd welcome the chance to speak with you.

I intend to reply and ask if there will be any type of release of info to the general public/media regarding the NIL program once they finalize in (supposedly) a few weeks, and about the review by the general counsel (one of my "roadblocks") in addition to the committee in the athletic department (I assume compliance?). I will also ask about the amount of time it is taking to get back to the student athletes, since some of the posters here have indicated the proposals seem to disappear. All in all, even though it is a sort of stock answer I was happy to at least get this degree of a response.
