I thought I read that Tuesday was a big recruiting day for Michigan. I haven't seen anything about how it went. Who were the headliners and any commits come out of it?

Tons of guys from Michigan were in town for a visit. No commits though, but plenty of offers. Donnie Corley, Desmond Fitzpatrick, Khalid Kareem, Michael Jordan, David Reese, and Demetric Vance were all in town, as well as some 2017 guys like Donovan Peoples-Jones.

Thx blue. What positions do you think needs immediate top level recruits to either start or be in the two deep and who is Michigan recruiting to fill that position?

Harbaugh will want at least one top level QB. He'll go hardest after Eason and Costello. We'll need a stud RB in this class as they will be freshmen during Derrick Green's senior year and Ty Isaac's junior year. Higdon looks like he may be a coup, but I'll save that judgment until he has actually played some football for Michigan. We have high interest from Matt Falcon, Elijah Holyfield, and Kentrail Moran, and I'm sure he'll continue to recruit guys like Kareem Walker.

We are really going to need some WR's, and we have a ton of offers out to those guys, and Jim obviously LOVES TE's so we may end up with 1 or 2 there. Naturally you always want a few OL in each class as well.

Our biggest needs on defense are LB and DB. We also need some elite pass rushers and we need a guy like Rashan Gary (who we should have a great shot at). We lose 4 LB after next year and we'll be a bit short in the defensive backfield.

The class should end up around 18-20 guys, and to be honest, I will be interested where the scholarships go, but I expect it to be a solid class.

Re: there will be a need for 4 OL as well*

Yep, and we have a solid start with a top 100 guy in Swenson already in the mix, but we'll go after a few more. When they come in, the Junior class will be huge, but that gives them plenty of time to develop before being needed.

I'm a little surprised on the O line needs. I honestly thought you had studs on the line and backups that were very good. Kalis comes from my area and I was really disappointed he didn't end up with my Bucks. I thought he was a roadgrader, but he doesn't seem to have panned out. Was that because he was overrated or lack of coaching? What are your thoughts on the new O line coach you hired? Do you feel he will be the answer to turn the line around? I have always felt you get a good O and D lines and you will always win more than you lose.

Every UM fan thought the OL was studs. UM now has one of the best OL

coaches in the business. Last year at USC he started 3 true freshmen (at one time or the other) with 2 true freshmen always starting. USC did okay The OL played better as the season wore on last year, a sign of maturity, but as most UM fans I'm hoping the new staff turns the corner quickly. My guess is the OL will be a strength this season.

The OL needs are more #'s than anything. I don't think any team should have less than 10 OL ready to play at any given time. We have 4 graduating after the 2016 season, so it would be nice to have 4 who have redshirted during 2016 to be ready for 2017 if they're needed. We'll then have 6 graduating after 2017, so over the course of 2 seasons we will lose 10OL. It's more about #'s than it is skill level.

Our new OL coach is considered one of the best OL teachers in the country. Our old OL coach was awful. There should be a huge step up in their play starting this year, part due to Drevno and part due to Harbaugh's competitive nature.

It would be absolutely shocking if Harbaugh doesn't have a top 10 class next year. Maybe top 5 if the number of signees allow it.

Yeah I agree. In my opinion the only thing holding us out of a top 5 class would possibly be the size. I can't remember how many recruits Rivals counts in their points total, but I would assume we'll be top 5 in star average.

Our ranking wasn't good this year, but our star average was top 15 or 20 I believe. Just a small class, we only had 12 seniors on the team.
