*** Before Sunday's Pylon 7v7 tournament, I actually met with former San Francisco 49ers safety Chet Brooks, who now lives in Dallas and coaches defensive backs in the area, including his son and three-star 2022 Plano (Texas) John Paul II safety Terrance Brooks. First things first, Brooks is a clear four-star. He's a borderline Top 250 prospect elsewhere and should be rated somewhere in that vicinity. I actually reached out to a source in the area that I trust with evals, and he said the ranking was shit. Brooks is so advanced from a technical aspect. Having an NFL dad has helped him with a lot of the intricacies of playing the position. I also love his build. You can tell Brooks has put the time into developing his body in the weight room. He's a sturdy, strong kid with tremendous length. He's more long than he is tall but still has good height as well.

*** I think it's becoming pretty clear that new Michigan Co-DC Maurice Linguist likes guys that offer versatility in the secondary. Unless you're a true shutdown corner like Will Johnson, most of the guys Linguist has offered can move around. The same goes for Brooks. I don't just see him as a safety. He can be a bigger corner in the Big Ten and play some nickel and dime as well. His frame can also support more weight, which could lead to him playing a more box hybrid role. There is just a lot to like about Brooks' build and skillset. Another thing that stands out about Brooks is his intelligence. Not only is he smart on the field, he is also a high academic kid that isn't afraid to leave home. It makes sense that he has legit interest in schools like Michigan and Notre Dame.

*** Dallas-area trainer Clay Mack has worked with first round NFL Draft picks like Jeff Okudah and Jamal Adams. I think his next big name is 2023 Coppell (Texas) High cornerback Braxton Myers, who recently notched a Michigan offer. The training session was very technique based, but I was extremely impressed with Myers. The Lone Star State breeds top level defensive backs, and Myers is one of the more impressive young prospects I've seen down there. Just from a pure physical standpoint, Myers pops out. At 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Myers is a big, strong corner with a lot of length. His fundamentals are flawless, and he moves so well for his age and size. I truly believe he'll be a Top 100 prospect when the initial rankings come out for his class.

*** This morning, I made my way out east of Dallas and stopped by to see 2021 Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial defensive tackle and Michigan signee Ike Iwunnah. I did not see Ike workout since was still in the middle of his school day, but I was impressed with his body type. Iwunnah is a legit 6-3 or 6-4 and carries 290 pounds really well. He doesn't look like he has a lot of bad weight on him. While still raw technically, Iwunnah may not be as big of a project as I thought he would be. I do plan on seeing him actually move around when I go back to Dallas in the spring. I also stopped by neighboring Garland (Texas) High, which is home to 2022 Rivals250 safety and new Michigan offer Chace Biddle. The four-star prospect is coming off injury, so I also did not see him workout. However, I saw him on the 7v7 circuit last year, and he impressed. I like his speed at the safety position as well as his natural instincts. He still has a lot of upside.
