This is easy to say now, but why did people have high expectations for this team?

I thought they'd finish 6th or lower on the Big Ten. Thry have very little experience and completely lack an inside game on both ends of the floor.

Expectations were too high, in view of the loss of talent from last year's team. Some thought JB is a miracle worker, and he would always find a way to win with whatever talent is on hand. He's a great coach, but not a miracle worker. He likes to have five players on the floor who can shoot, preferably from 3 point range -- and he does not have those scorers this year. This team plays pretty good defense, but they don't rebound very well and struggle to get good shots. SMU looked much bigger and more physical than the Wolverines, and were definitely the better team.

Right now 6th place in the conference would look pretty good. After these last four games, its looking more and more like 9th or 10th.

I agree....

I expect to finish somewhere around 10th in the conference now. Before the season, I was in the 6-8 range. A lot of people were predicting Sweet 16 for this team. That was ludicrous.

I knew the team was going to take a serious step back this season but I thought it was possible to place maybe 5th in the conference but that seems like a pipe dream at this point. Unless something changes quickly I don't see us winning many conference games.....no freshman difference makers, no real inside presence, and marginal ballhanding....not good for Big 10 play.

Every team struggles on the road in the Big 10; that's normal. But this team is having a lot of trouble winning at home as well. That's a bad combo in the conference.

Here is where I was wrong. I thought they would finish around

4-th in conference because of LeVERT, Irvin and Walton and then thought UM could offset Morgan and GR3 with the Donnal/Doyle and Chatman.

Well...I was wrong. Chatman isn't giving UM 1/10th the production offensively as did GR3 and Morgan was understated his 'rolling' off the pick for easy baskets.
