A coach's main job is to put guys in positions to succeed and to not ask them to do things they can't do. With that in mind a few things have been bugging me as they seem to be becoming a theme a bit.

1.Why was Watson left to get embarrassed in front of millions being asked to do something he couldn't do? Why was there no adjustment to help him or replace him with a guy who could run with those receivers like Ambry Thomas? More zone? Reminded me of Mike McCray being asked to cover Barkley which he just simply could not do but was continually asked to do anyway even after it was clearly not going to go well.

2. Why, when we have arguably one of the most talented receiver groups in the country do we instead constantly roll out 3 TE sets? I can't make sense of it. None of the TE's can block so you don't get an advantage there. They certainly aren't the receivers that Black, DPJ and Collins are. So why? An extension of that is why would you have a 3rd TE who can't block in the game consistently instead of Ben Mason?

3. What was with the seemingly random approach to the RB rotation? Higdon would get a 7/8/9 yard gain and then immediately be replaced by Evans who is not a short yardage runner at all.

4. Why oh WHY does Devin Gil get so much run? He and Ross basically split their snaps 50/50 and Ross has seemed to be a significantly better player the entire year.

I'm no expert and would love to hear from some of the guys on the board who often post game break downs etc. I was just sitting at work thinking, wondering. One thing that I keep circling back to is this. Is it possible that Jim has too much of an NFL approach on offense? In the NFL it's all about staying on schedule. Converting on 3rd down etc etc. Why are we running flags 20 yards down the field with nothing underneath or short to dump it off to if it's not there? Are we asking our college QB's to complete multiple NFL level throws on 3rd down each drive to just keep the drive alive? Why do we so often run when it's 2nd and 10, 2nd and 9 etc and create 3rd and long situations?

I'm sure I'm asking questions all of us have been asking during the game and since it ended. I don't know if anyone will have the answers. My personal hope is that this will be a wake up call to Jim and convince him to hire the best damn college OC he can find and get out of the way. Not sure I ever see that happening though.
