1. Alex Orji's "overall" QB PFF score was 91.4 (90-99 range is Elite)...So Orji was rated ELITE overall per PFF!!!
2. UM had 31 rushing attempts for 119 yards, and Orji had 6 carries for 64 yards...so had 6 carries = 19% of the carries, but that resulted in a whopping 54% of our rushing yards!
3. Look at our 3 main rushers:
-Kallel M: 13 carries, 18 yards, 1.3 yards per carry, 0 TDs
-Dono E: 9 carries, 24 yards, 2.7 yards per carry, and 0 TDs
-A. Orji: 6 carries, 64 yards, 10.7 yards per carry, 1 TD
-ORJI was our rushing attack in few carries--if MSU was so great at stopping Kallel and Dono, why were they so clueless in stopping Orji????????š¤·āāļø...amazing
4. Orji had only 6 touches, but check the impressive breakdown results:
-3 of his rushes were 1st downs (50%)
-1 rush was a TD
-1 rush resulted in a targeting call and also a 1st down
-His only non-1st down or non TD carry was a 7 yard carry, and we got a 1st down on next play
-So 5 of 6 touches resulted in the chains moving or a TD....outstanding!!!
5. Orji's 29 yard run was our longest & most explosive play of the entire game...not Loveland, not Dono, not Kallel, not Semaj, etc!!!!
6. Effective Decoy usage: with 12:28 in 3rd qtr and 9-7 score and UM at Sparty 12 yard line and 1st & 10, UM flanks Orji way out in left flats near boundary, and brings Semaj under center to snap directly to Semaj for a fake reverse with Orji coming back around and Semaj faking the handoff to Orji---On this play, 3 Spartans (94, 9, & 23) go for Orji, as Semaj has the entire boundary sideline free and boogies for 7 yards until the pursuit comes
7. UM trying to close out game WITHOUT Orji involved....with 6mins left in 4th and score 24-17 after a MSU TD, UM has the ball at 25 yard line...on 1st down Kallel gets 1 yard, on 2nd down Kallel gets 0 yards, & on 3rd down Warren throws incomplete out in the flats to O'Leary--so with no Orji, we gained 1 yard in 3 plays, and had a horrible 25 yard punt and Sparty takes over at 50 yard line down 7pts
8. NOW UM CLOSING OUT THE GAME WITH ORJI INVOLVEMENT: With 1:52 left 1st down in UM's own 15yard line and game 24-17, Orji takes the snap and runs up the gut for 15 yards and 1st down...2nd play Mullins runs for 3 yards, 3rd play Mullins runs for 2 yards and its 3rd and 5 to go--if Sparty stops us on 3rd down, they can force possibly another bad punt and still have about 1 minute left to score....Orji takes it and gains about 9 or 10 yards before sliding and CALLS GAME!!
9. Orji gets appreciation hugs on the field and on the sideline for his HUGE efforts....
Orji was HUGE in this game---some tried to reduce his contribution and efforts to "a gadget guy" in posts, but PFF and I are saying Orji was absolutely ELITE!!
