No doubt this one hurt and we may witness a season that lays waste to one of the best defenses we’ll collectively see.
The issues we see can be traced back to the B. Martin, Coach Carr Rich Rod and Hoke transitions. Rich Rod sacrificed the D to install his O. That failed miserably so Hoke comes in and outs the D back on track but the O getting pulled in yet another direction never got level set.
Now it’s Harbaugh’s turn. The D is lights out. But the O still isn’t settled. There is talent there but maybe in the wrong places for what is needed right now and that seems compounded by a lack of identity, inconsistencies in play calling and maybe trying to play too many players.
Hopefully going forward they can simplify the O, getting the o line more focused, take the pressure off the QB a bit and get stabilized. I think at this point ANY improvement has to appreciated but will pay off nicely.
I’ve never liked or trusted the game coming off a bye week.
I’m not ready to write off this season but there needs to be small improvements in the remainder of this year and a major leap forward with the O next year, while keeping the D on track, or we may never break this cycle....
