I think that Wink knows this D well, but the player flow has been inconsistent due to injuries.
I have a feeling that Wink's real issue was communicating this D to 18, 19-eyar olds vs professionals.
He may not be the natural teacher that Macdonald and Minter were. In addition, Mac and Minter were much closer in age to the players than Wink.
Maybe Wink's adjusting and the young men are adjusting, but perhaps a younger or already "college savvy" DC (one who assists in recruiting) would be the move for next season. I always had the feeling that Wink would be a rental DC for one reason (success and move back to NFL) or another (failure to connect).
