and I was driving home and man I was so tired I could have gone to sleep on the freeway within 10 seconds. I knew I couldn't make it so I pulled off the freeway in the middle of the valley (Northridge area) and went to sleep for a couple of hours. Woke up around 4:00 a.m. or so.

I heard a story about some teenage girls driving and dying when the driver went to sleep. Bottom line...if you are so tired...pull off to the side of the road regardless of where you are. I slept one time in a fast food restaurant parking lot. Just pull off the road and sleep anywhere.

While I agree with the sentiment - pull off and sleep, we now need to be more specific than "anywhere".

Clearly pulling off to nap with your car sinking into a pond is a bad idea
