Are each one of the players realistically performing up to expectations at this point in their career?
Are there individuals that aren't playing but should be at this point in their career?
Is there enough competition yet?
Mason Cole: Senior (Started as a Frosh) Probably should be more dominant at this point in his career but did have a position change.
Ben Bredeson: Sophomore (Started as a Frosh) Is not up to speed yet. Performing up to expectations IMO.
Pat Kugler: 5th Year Senior that took to this point to really see the field. In that case you can rarely expect anything more than serviceable which I believe is what we are getting.
Michael Onwenu: Sophomore, 1st year starting. It's going to take some time for him to be a plus player. I think he's average right now.
Nolan Ulizio: RS Sophomore. Low Ranked Prospect that it shows to the lack of depth why he's starting.
Juwan Bushel Beatty: RS Junior Never really figured it out
Jon Runyan: RS Sophomore Getting up to speed but still young
That's pretty much it. Need to find 5 starters out of 7 guys that aren't extremely young (Frosh or RS Frosh like Spanellis, Stueber, Filagia, Ruiz etc...).
Also note that Oline is the one position it typically takes awhile to be a plus player. Michigan being filled with mostly Freshman and Sophomores on their roster is going to hurt the Oline group more than anything.
I'm disappointed in the Oline play and have posted before that something doesn't seem right. I still believe that however there's an argument as well for just lack of depth and competition that leads to the average Oline we have starting right now. Last year's Oline should have been dominant and wasn't. This years Oline we really just hoped would be solid. Right now it's average.
I think there are a lot of reasons for it but don't discount the lack of experience and depth at the position. That's a big factor still.
