It is refreshing to see multiple players down the field in good position to make tackles in both punt and kickoff coverage. It seems we have smothered return attempts every time. I have a hard time believing this all changed under Jay Harbaugh though he has to be given some kind of credit. I know that Moody kicks it far enough to not have many returned, but the punt coverage, even on long bombs where the returner has some room, has been excellent. I don’t recall a single return that had the slightest hint of concern. Any insights on how we have made this a real asset this year? Personnel, scheme, etc.? Whatever it is, I don’t worry like I used to out of habit. Hopefully, I’m not jinxing them because this has proven to be terrific for field position when you consider we also have not turned the ball over yet. Our defense has not had to defend a short field in any of the three games.
