Before everything is out there, I wanted to let everybody know that I’m starting a new position on the Monday after the OSU game (Nov. 28) & next Saturday will be my last day with M&BR.
I want to thank everyone from the staff - namely, Josh - for providing me with this unbelievable opportunity that allowed me to flap my wings & be creative.
With this being my second time around at Rivals, I’m happy I get to write a goodbye post this time.
I won’t be covering Michigan anywhere else, as my position is a behind-the-scenes corporate editing position.
Never say never, of course, but this is likely the last time I’ll cover Michigan athletics.
Allow me to get unusually emotional for a moment.
My father is my best friend who raised me as a single dad & our strongest bond since I was a baby was Michigan football.
This job - more than any writing job before it - was my dream.
The first four years (2015-2019) & the last year (2021-22) provided me with an experience I dreamed of since my dad introduced me to the everlasting beauty that is college football.
I can’t put into words how much I loved everything about this position & the opportunity to cover a program I grew up on at its peak.
There are many things I’ll miss, from the board interactions to the guys I was so lucky to work alongside.
This is, hopefully, all I’ll have to say about the situation until my last day. It’s my plan to carry on & perform my responsibilities as usual until Sunday, Nov 29.
Thank you all for welcoming back the 19-year-old recruiting kid who left in a blink of an eye in his first stint here with open arms.
I vividly recall being alarmingly nervous to return to this board. In the end, I’m so happy I did.
Even though our time is, once again, cut short: I can’t begin to thank all of you enough, so please reach out privately anytime.
I’m always down to chop it up about some ball.
