Owen Freeman is gone-

Cooper Schweiger (Valparaiso) is a name in the portal connected to Michigan. I like Schweiger almost as much as I liked Freeman for the vacant PF (Wolf) role.
15.8 PPG, 7.8 rebounds, 49% FG, 30% from 3, 85% FT, 2 blocks, 1.1 Assists, 1.6 TOs, 6'10", 230.

If not Schweiger, I like Nick Davidson (Nevada) - Though Michigan has yet to be connected with him as a portal target/recruit.
15.8 PPG, 6.5 rebounds, 50% FG, 37% from 3, 70% FT, 1.2 Blocks, 2.8 Assists, 1.9 TOs. 6'10", 238.

Both of PF these prospects are eerily equal- Similar size, exact same PPG, but it seems that the younger player (Schweiger will have two seasons of eligibility after this one) is the more interior based player with more rebounds and blocks. Davidson seems like the better perimeter player- Higher 3-point % and assists.

Others I'd like as possibilities at PF for 2025-26:
Marquel Sutton (Omaha), is a pure PF: 18.9 PPG, 48% FG, 28% from 3, 74% FT, 7.9 rebounds, 1,2 assists, 0.3 blocks. I love the points and rebounds- I hate the 3-point % and the lack of rim protection, passing, or steals. 6'9", 225. Michigan has been connected to him.

Does Michigan kick the tires on former IU PF Mackenzie Mgbako? 12.2 PPG, 4.6 rebounds, 44% FG, 33% from 3, entering his third season after being an elite prospect. 6'9", 222.

In addition, Michigan needs a Goldin replacement (along with one of the freshman Euro Bigs?) from the portal. These are the players that are either connected to Michigan, or players I feel should be.

  • Magoon Gwath (SDSU) would be a future building block, along with a player with some real experience as a true freshman. Plug him in as a resident dunker/finisher with a touch from 3 (17-45). He's 7' listed at a slim 205, has some extra-long arms, even for a true 7'-footer. Averaged a promising 8.5 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 51% from the field, and 38% from 3, with a game changing 2.6 BPG. Has three seasons of eligibility left. Connected to Michigan.
  • Oscar Cluff (South Dakota St) Big (6'11", 260) fella. Basically, Cluff would be a one-season rent-a-brute. Killer numbers: 17.6 PPG, 12.3 RPG (!), 63% FG, 2.8 assists, 0.8 blocks. Shot minimal (6) three-pointers but made most of them (4).
  • Christoph Tilley (Sant Clara) The 7', 240 pounder scored 12.5 PPG, 4.9 rebounds, 55% FG, 32% from 3, 1.9 assists, and 0.8 blocks as a 3rd -year player...Some upside?
Two I don't really want to see @ Michigan but are connected:
  • Malik Reneau from IU, who's a big, burly, successful and probably too expensive B1G big man who has proven he can be successful in the conference: I don't really like him as a fit, as he's ground-bound with 0.5 blocks per game and only 5.5 rebounds. Shoots the 3 at a 12.5% clip.🤢 Good post scorer though, (13.5 PPG, 55% FG) and PITA as an opponent.
  • Lathan Somerville (Rutgers) is a year older (Soph rising) than Gwath, but he's HUGE 6'10", 275. Mostly a lane finisher, with minimal athleticism to block shots or be a force on the boards. 8.2 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 51% FG, 11% from 3, 86% FT, 0.6 blocks, 0.6 assists.
