Some talk that USC-UCLA-Oregon have approached the B1G about creating a western pod. The rumored fourth team would be Washington or Colorado.
Supposedly, the LA schools (namely SC) is driving this. 20 is probably the max number.
Fox has a huge incentive here given that it controls both conferences media rights and both are up in 2023-2024. Fox is also tied closely to the LA market and allegedly is pushing this.
I think there is credence to some sort of B1G-P12 merger as I’ve written. But I’d also be skeptical if the B1G presidents, TV markets be damned, wouldn’t want Stanford and Cal for the prestige factor.
