It's pretty sobering to think that Urban Meyer could have potentially won two National Championships as the Ohio St HC.
If Ohio St would have self-imposed a bowl ban for the 2011 season under Fickell instead of losing to Florida to have a final record of 6-7, they likely would have been eligible to play in a bowl game in 2012. That year, OSU went undefeated (probably would have won the B10CG if eligible for it) and finished ranked #3 in the AP poll. If OSU had been eligible, they would have been either #1 or #2 in the BCS and jumped a one-loss Alabama for the 2nd slot in the BCS NCG.
It was clear that Alabama was the #1 team in the land once the actual game was over but I believe Ohio St would have had at least a 50-50 shot at beating Notre Dame in that game.
Let's just be happy OSU's old AD would rather play in a bowl game with a 6-6 record.....because he must've hated himself seeing what could have been.
