Re-watched the RoseBowl game....more to watch Haynes than the game itself though we watched the whole game. Haynes is a LOAD. GREAT pick up.
Some people on here want to point at one thing that caused the 7-5 season. I agree except from one week to the next it was a multitude of things:
QB play was a problem
Switching QBs 4 times was a problem...lead to no rhythm
Oline play was a problem...very inconsistent...again lead to no rhythm
Multiple injuries on the oline contributed to lack of continuity
Play calling was a problem....I question if it was the Plays themselves or the combination of QB..Oline play and Injuries
I will go with play calling though lack of execution was a problem
WR room was weak...or was it the QB and oline play where-WR didn't have time to get open
The D early on gave up to many 3rd and longs...
Wink had to learn the college game...the secondary was decimated by injuries and players portaling (that's my word)
What I'm looking foward to:
BU as the QB.....there will be a learning curve...so relax
3 starting Olinemen returning and some up and coming young guys...Sherrone will get I more out of the portal
Haynes with Marshall and Hall in the RB room
Upgrading the WR room...it will be much better...
I'm curious about the interior dline....I think the light went on for Ike...Pierce and Benny ...the DEs are studs...love Barham as a DE
LB room will be awesome...love Hausman...Rolder...Sullivan...and Now Bowles
I believe in my heart of hearts Rod Moore returns...he will be huge in the secondary...love Hillman and Curtis...Metcalf was a great pick up out of the portal
J-Hill got better as the season went on though he was in the dog house for a little while....Berry was a dog at CB...played really well down the stretch...love Earls as a possible consistent contributor
Lastly...ZAVADA...NUF said about kicking...punter will work itself out in the spring.
Should be a GREAT 2025 season!
