satellite camps/spring practice. Here are my thoughts.
I thought it was money well spent.
1. That money is not going back to the ticket holders. At best it goes into the reserves. Basically it's marketing money. It's chump change for UM.
2. The money is well spent. They now have a relationship with the IMG people. Come on. Clever is an understatement. In business we like to call it GOODWILL.
3. Here is what the 'critics' are missing. It's a huge point that has somewhat been lost on them. UM needs to branch out nationally. It won't win big with guys from the state of MI especially since it shares some of them with MSU. It isn't getting into Ohio on a volume basis or maybe even a high end quality level. Even the recent 2018 recruit is probably going to switch down the line.
Illinois isn't going to do it. Neither is Indiana. UM needs the East, West and even some in the south. All of this is planting the seeds to create contacts. It's amusing some of the 'critics' just see it in terms of 5 stars but if UM wants to compete with the best (USC, Alabama, OSU) it will need Florida, PA, CA & TX.
Want proof? Let me ask you going back over the Schembechler, Moeller and Carr eras....do these names sound familiar and tell me if they were from the state of MI.
1. Terrell
2. Walker
3. Hart
4. Brady
5. Butt
6. Morris
7. Carter
8. Howard
9. Woodson
10. Grbac
11. McGee
12. Kolesar
13. Perry
14. Hemingway
15. Breaston
Now...subtract the Ohio guys and you have your answer. Harbaugh is doing exactly what needs to be done at UM. Brilliant.
