- First off, great way to watch a football game. We are a pretty good team. Second half offensive aside, we played a pretty good game against a Rutgers team that is tough. Wisconsin will be tough as well, and at home, but the defensive performance this weekend I'll predict will go far in building confidence on that side of the ball.
- Rutgers RB, Pacheco (?), is better than Wisco's in my opinion. And Mertz isn't much of a running threat. I think we are going to handle the run well, or at least well enough.
- Our defensive backfield is pretty darn good in coverage. Besides the deep ball where we can't ever seem to get our heads around, we play everything else quite well in man coverage. The real test next weekend will be in how we defend the TE.
- The team has fight. Even on the offensive side when things were getting sideways we still looked like we had some fire. It will be a good learning experience (hopefully) and the line and RB's can maybe take a look at film and realize they're going to have to earn it and work harder. Wisco will see this film and stack the box - what will the OC do to counter?
- We won by 7 and it was tight at times. This game was also close to being a blow out. We had the ball on our first FG make with a first down inside the 25 and Black misses a HUGE cut back hole that would have at least led us inside the 10 if not the end zone. We then should have had a TD on the pass Cade missed to close the half. And finally, we should have put points on the board with Henning's punt return.
- The defense is also really close to making some plays. Others have noted it, but we are in positions and just inches away from making plays. Rutgers made some plays around a lot of chaos and our guys swarming. We're close.
- All in all - I actually feel better about where we are after re-watching. Our lines aren't getting blown off the ball and Rutgers gave us their best shot. Their a pretty good team and I think we're going to be OK.
