Question... if you're Harbaugh, how do you handle backup QB snaps the rest of the way?

My non-Fort buddy and I were talking about this in Section 13 during the garbage time second half on Saturday. The conversation started right after Dylan McCaffrey first came in to relieve Shea Patterson, because I made the off-hand comment that in a blowout like this, we'd be able to get snaps not only for Dylan, but also for Brandon Peters and Joe Milton. Reps for everyone, right?

However, my buddy countered by saying that he thought we should only play McCaffrey the entire rest of the way against Nebraska. The rationale was simply this: it appears that Michigan Football now has a backup quarterback of the quality such that we wouldn't have to suffer a lost season if the unthinkable happened with our high-quality starter... our backup could come in and continue to lead us to a bunch of wins. So with that in mind: why not use every opportunity you can to allow him to keep growing and getting better this season when games are in hand? (And while I don't want to assume anything, I would HOPE that Saturday wasn't the last game all year in which we end up building a big lead on the opponent early and can therefore safely pull our starter.) In a sense, this would be taking the ultimate "win now" mentality.

I have to admit that I came around to my friend's line of thinking pretty quickly. Anyone have any thoughts?
