As I posted here last week, I recently started Pilates. After six months of very little activity I decided that I needed something in the way of a regular workout Since I separated a shoulder lifting weights several years ago, my options were limited. To continue weight training, I needed to either have surgery (wasn’t otherwise recommended for my injury) or that I had to work with a trainer when I lifted. The trainer could stabilize the shoulder (apply pressure to the front and rear of the joint) during those reps that might cause problems. I did that for several years. However, gym closures made that tough since my little home gym is just too tight for two people at a time. So.......
Pilates
The word “Pilates” is hilariously female sounding and evokes something between Yoga and ballet, but it’s really just resistance training on a machine that’s one half Chuck Norris Total Gym and one half Bowflex Spring bands. I’m not sure it will ever rise to the level of bad-ass, but you will be sore the next day. So far, it’s been pretty easy on the shoulder. too.
Anyway, just figured I’d share my latest move towards total emasculation (the process started in earnest when I got married twenty-ish years ago) with The Fort.
