A few weeks ago the European cable station canal plus, which has the television rights in several countries for the El Clasico rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, posted the below-linked video promoting the game. Keep in mind that this video was posted less than a week after the illegal October 1 vote on independence in Catalonia (where Barcelona is located). The Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, sent in the dreaded Guardia Civil, a paramilitary force with a long and controversial history (Franco's henchmen, also led a failed coup against the young Spanish democracy in 1981), in order to try and stop the vote from taking place, and there were reportedly over 700 people injured (even this figure is highly debated between the unionists and independistas).

FC Barcelona against Real Madrid is not only a rivalry between two of the greatest soccer teams in the world, both in the same league, but also a manifestation of very strong regional sentiments. FC Barcelona is pretty much owned by local shareholders, primarily thousands of Catalans, so when they go up against Real Madrid it is, for many, like going up against the occupying force. Just to give you guys a little bit of background as to why the emotions in this game are unlike any other major sporting rivalry in the world.

All that being said, here is the video that created quite a stir. This is the Spanish version. I believe the original was in French, but the Spanish one id better in my view:
