My family and I take a long driving vacation every summer when my boys get out of school (10 and 12 yrs old). We have done Yellowstone, all of the Utah National Parks, Monument Valley, Sedona and some others.
We live in SoCal. Have never gone South, so decided to give it a try. Started in Vegas, where I happened to win $3k playing blackjack, so a lovely way to start. Headed southeast through New Mexico to Carlsbad Caverns. Just finished the hike down into the caves. Pretty phenomenal stuff. One mile hike in, 800 feet deep. It never ceases to amaze me the wonderful natural phenomena we can see in the US. Below are some pics. Headed to San Antonio tomorrow.
