Hey all - chatted with Chris to make sure this was okay to post here:
I help run the Ann Arbor Area Bourbon Club (feel free to join on Facebook, search "Ann Arbor Area Bourbon Club" or "A3BC"). We recently partnered with The Blind Pig, The Last Word and Three Chord Bourbon (located in Chelsea, MI) to select a single barrel bourbon with the goal of raising money for The Blind Pig staff. They had about 11 staff members stay onboard throughout the year+ period they remained closed as a venue, and as they start hosting shows again - we thought it would be great to get some extra tips in their pockets. Plus, I know we have a lot of bourbon enthusiasts in The Fort!
This was a cool experience, as we had a few folks from each organization meet up at Three Chord's tasting room in Chelsea, and went through about 9 different barrels sourced from various distilleries. In the end, everyone agreed that a barrel from Bardstown Distilling Company in Kentucky was the best of the bunch, coming in at 119 proof with notes of oak, caramel and cinnamon on the palate, and heavy caramel, cocoa, roasted nuts and dry rye spice on the finish. This is not the normal Three Chord product, and I really enjoyed helping select it.
The price per bottle is $60, but $22.90 from each bottle is going directly to Pig staff (none to ownership, this is strictly about day-to-day service staff members). We have about 80 bottles available and each bottle also comes with a Blind Pig hangtag good for a free drink at The Pig or the 8 Ball Saloon underneath. Bottle Picture Located Here.
I am local in Ann Arbor, and walking distance from The Pig. I'll also be at every home football game this year. Unfortunately we cannot ship, so distribution is limited to locally in Ann Arbor (and surrounding areas - the group's founder will also be in Grand Rapids Oct 12-15). Let me know if you are interested, feel free to DM or respond to this thread. Easiest way to contribute and grab a bottle (or more) is to Venmo @Kyle-McLaughlin-33 (DO NOT MENTION BOURBON OR ALCOHOL, comment with "BP" or a pig emoji, please). We can also figure out other arrangements via DM. Bottles will be available by kickoff on September 4, if not before.
Thanks all and happy to answer any questions you may have. Looking forward to seeing many of you on September 4th!
