The last time OSU was unspeakably dominant so much so that I paused and went “hmmmm”…two straight years of treating us like a turnstile. 18 touchdowns on 25 possessions in 2018 and 2019.
This was against a Hall of Fame coach and very good defensive coordinator coaching top 10 (or higher) defenses - preparing for them all year.
I ultimately bought into the notion that Don Brown was just stubborn and ran too much man to man.
Five years later I learned my gut was right and OSU had all of our defensive signals and we weren’t even engaging in that fight.
A month ago I processed our remarkable win. The state of that program and the money they had invested. In a jovial mood I concluded “there’s no limit to what we may see now”.
The consensus number one team in the country just got boat raced in two quarters for 390 yards and 38 points without the benefit of a turnover.
I can’t think of an apparently great team getting run like that in two quarters ever before.
That was either the greatest half of college football we’ve ever seen or….
Maybe Oregon ran too much man to man. 😏
