UM gets to the mountain top last year winning it all. This year felt like rock bottom after the IU loss only to see the energy completely flip days before the NW game with the BU commitment. Ironically (hopefully) Michigan hasn’t lost since.

The LaVell Blanchard hype was off the charts. The 1999 Gatorade Player of the year went to high school across the street at Pioneer. Blanchard scored 29 and beat Mr. Basketball Jason Richardson’s Saginaw team in the state finals.

Owen Powers and Marty Beniers debuts were highly anticipated as top players coming in to Ann Arbor. Add in the following year when Luke Hughes & Kent Johnson arrived and those four ultimately playing together was the talk of hockey. Having all four players getting picked in the top five of the ‘21 NHL draft is still amazing.
