Monday morning QB (Spring Game)

QB notes from Saturday:

Loved Chip Lindsey’s format for the QB’s.
Bryce Underwood on one side and Jadyn Davis on the other taking all the practice reps. Most volume of throws I’ve ever seen at a pro/college practice.

Underwood 12-26-1

The arm talent was obvious. There was a bomb to Channing Goodwin. Missed it big time but it was long which is how you want to miss it. JJ didn’t connect on one of those type of deep balls until his 11th start.

My favorite pass, which I can’t wait to see on the broadcast, was a 30-40 yarder incompletion down the sideline to Jamar Browder. It’s the kind of throw and catch you see from the top end guys in the NFL like Burrow to Chase or Higgins.

Two incompletions in red-zone on 1st & 2nd down. Credit to the DB’s on these reps. There was a back shoulder throw to the left and a jump ball throw to Browder in the middle of the end zone on the sideline. Not a common route or throw that you see. I’m encouraged by the idea. Again I think the DB made a play on the throw.

Underwood made a perfect pass to Joe Taylor on a slant that was knocked away. If the receiver is not 5-10 that’s going to be an easy TD.

Taylor on that slant in the red-zone or a jump ball from Jadyn Davis to Semaj Morgan is not putting those guys in the best position to succeed. That’s spring ball play calling. You would think they would be dialing up Donoven McCulley or a tight end in these spots in the fall.
