Recruiting is getting earlier and earlier. Just yesterday a record has been broken as far as i am aware. For the first time ever, over 100 different 8th-graders have received BCS-level offers before the end of the 8th-grade academic year. I have be montoring offers for over 20 years and this is a first.
Some schools have been especially aggressive in handing out early "offers". How committable many of those so-called offers actually are is not quite clear, but schools are finding it more and more important to offer kids at an early age in order to develop relationships ahead of the competition. An early offer helps get the kid to come up for an unofficial visit and, more importantly, camp at the school and start to develop a coach/athlete relationship with staff members.
Michigan has become somewhat more aggressive in offering 8th-graders. Thus far we have offered the following nine 2026 prospects. Two are in-staters (Corey Sadler and JaWuan Sennis), one (Amari Sabb) is the younger brother of a current Wolverine (Keon Sabb), and one (James Carrington) plays for the Biff Poggi' built St. Francis Academy powerhouse.
