a few thoughts about the game.

-Michigan is -3 favorite at SouthPoint in Las Vegas. Vegas is right on about 70% of it's picks for favorites (to win straight up).
-Every year we get a bad call in the first game that costs us a touchdown or at least kills a very promising drive. If I had one wish I'd ask that we get the favorable call this year.
-The main attribute I want to see from Joe Milton in first start is ball safety. Manage the game. Win the turnover battle.
-Conversely, I'd like to see two things from the Don Brown defense. Control the line of scrimmage and eliminate the big plays. Those two keys would have led to undefeated season last year. Especially the ball has to stop going over the head of our DB's.

QB play and preventing big plays are the two things that have kept Michigan from the B1G championship. I'm excited to see Joe in action-wouldn't it be great to turn the tables and have us be the deep threat team? To have him have a Jake Rudock type season (minus the Utah game) where he gets better in each game would get us where we need to go because his ceiling is so much higher than Jake's. That said, it wouldn't be surprising to see him struggle in first start. Minnesota is going to throw all they have at him and we have an inexperienced OL. This is one of those opportunities to shine. Overall, I expect a defensive struggle on Saturday. There likely could be a defensive score to decide the game. My prediction: Michigan 20 Minnesota 13.
