Nauseating talk about the offense this week, let’s talk some defense…
MacDonald has talked about how the defense will be multiple and tailored to the opponent. What do you expect to see out of the D this week?
We know UW is gonna try run it down our throats. It’s what they do and have done. Do we have enough beef to plug the run lanes? That’s obviously a key matchup. What’s the formation look like. The DL has looked solid this year, and depth seems to be getting better, but it’s going to be a battle.
What do we look like scheme-wise? We’ve been playing a lot of nickel this year, and understandably so. I’m thinking the front 7 is going to be more of a 4 down lineman set with Hutch at the SAM, and then we’ll see multiple personnel groups where he puts his hand down.
On the back end, Dax is our nickel guy, and often is closer to the line of scrimmage. Based on Mertz’s struggles this year, and needing to stack the box with more beef, I wanna see Dax playing centerfield, roaming the secondary for that pick. Play Hawkins near the box and let’s see if the CBs can go back out on an island at times…
