Reports are coming out that Michigan assistant coach Kris Mayotte will get the head coaching job at Colorado College.
He's been outstanding on both the recruiting side and the coaching side. The team defense has been much better under his guidance and he was the reason Matty Beniers came to Michigan.
Big loss for the Wolverines but I very strongly suspect they knew his star was on the rise and that he wouldn't be long for that position. Nice to have someone to root for in the NCHC now.
I'm interested to see where Pearson goes with this opening. Guys like Shields, Hunwick, and Komisarek have been volunteer assistants, and Komo was in the mix for the job when it came open last time. He'd bring the Northeast recruiting contacts like Mayotte.
If Jeff Tambellini had stayed in coaching I would have expected him to get a look. Not sure if he's still interested in that route or if he's focused on the front office side like his dad.
Or Mel could go outside the program like he did with Mayotte.
