Kinda OT: Harder to watch a variety of sports than it used to be . . .

When I was a kid, I was a fan of a wider variety of sports - pro and college football, pro and college basketball, MLB, NHL, and even some tennis and golf. I was able to do this because I was able to spread my attention and energy out among all these sports. The only time I spent on media was reading the sports section in the local paper and ESPN/the evening local sports coverage.

But now it seems that social media/chat rooms have focused my attention on a more limited number of sports. I intensely follow Michigan football and basketball, (perhaps even more intensely than when I was going to Michigan), follow MLB and NFL (but to lesser degree than when I was a kid), lightly follow the NBA, and stopped following the NHL. I like golf and tennis but just don't have the time/investment to watch it because it's mostly spent on college sports.

Has this happened to anyone else?
