Former Michigan pledge Jalen Wilson is on a visit to North Carolina ... here's the latest on him and New Mexico Grad Transfer Anthony Mathis.

First, on Wilson ...

The former Michigan pledge (6-8, 210, Rivals.com's No. 47 senior nationally) out of Denton (Texas) Guyer is considering Kansas in addition to U-M and UNC. New head coach Juwan Howard can't meet with him until he passes the NCAA compliance/recruiting rules test — and we don't know how long that will be.

Per Rivals.com's Eric Bossi, who was all over the initial Wilson recruitment and remains close to it the second time around, said it's probably a moot point.

"It doesn't matter," Bossi said. "Barring a major turn of events, he's going to Kansas. He has always liked them, and family can make it to most games easily (especially with a sick grandfather he is very close to). They just never really connected the first time around, and Bill Self has done the best job re-recruiting him from what I've heard."

North Carolina will get the chance to sway him this week — and UNC coaches feel very confident they can — but U-M is now running a distant third here.

Mathis, meanwhile, is reportedly hearing from Texas A&M, Michigan, Iowa State, Northwestern, Boston College, Auburn, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Washington State. He set a New Mexico program record for most triples in a season by making 106 in 2018-19 and was named to the All-Mountain West third team after playing in 32 games and averaging 14.4 points and 2.1 assists, shooting 41.6 percent from long range.

Mathis has confirmed he's planning a U-M visit, but he will very likely end up at Oregon. He's from West Linn High School in Oregon and is good friends with and a former teammate of Ducks point guard Payton Pritchard.

The Wolverines also remain in the mix for German Franz Wagner, Moritz Wagner's little brother. They have three scholarships available for 2019-20.
