Since Friday morning's offer from Michigan, Farmington (Mich.) 2016 linebacker David Reese has been pretty open about his intentions in the recruiting process. Although he committed to Louisville March 7, he admits that the U-M offer is something to think about, and Michigan could be picking up a flip.

Reese will be back on Michigan's campus this weekend for the spring game, and if he's had ample opportunity to sit down with his parents and discuss his recruitment, he could flip. If he isn't confident that his next commitment is the last, however, he'll sit tight with an extremely soft pledge to Louisville before making a final determination.

"The last thing my wife and I want him to do is change his mind, then just change it again down the road," his father, David Sr. said. "If he does flip his commitment, it will be because he knows he's completely done with the process. That's how we felt when he committed to Louisville too, but this is an opportunity we weren't sure he'd have."

What could be just as intriguing - especially if Reese makes the call this weekend - is what happens after that (as-yet still hypothetical) flip. He's very close with a number of the best players in Southeast Michigan, particularly in the 2016 class, and could be a bit of a pied piper.

"A lot of those kids player for me with the Westside Cougars," said Reese Sr. "He's close with [Khalid] Kareem, [Matt] Falcon, obviously Dez [Fitzpatrick], and Donnie [Corley], too."

While there's clearly no such thing as a 100% solid package deal, there's a growing vibe that many of the best players in the state are pretty interested in picking Michigan, but nobody has been ready to make the first move. U-M is probably still behind for a couple of those guys (Kareem favors MSU, Falcon has Tennessee slightly on top, and Corley has U-M behind a few other options), but any little boost certainly helps, and Reese's commitment could be more than that. Especially if he picks Michigan soon, U-M is a strong favorite for Fitzpatrick, and could vault right back near the top for the rest of them.

Reese's father is an assistant principal at Farmington High and his mother is a teacher at Cass Tech, so there could even be a residual influence on other top prospects (though less so) at Michigan's biggest high school talent powerhouse.

Everything is speculative unless and until Reese, the No. 17 inside linebacker nationally and No. 11 senior in Michigan, does make a move for Michigan. At this point, however, that move at least seems extremely likely. The after-effects could manifest quickly - or not at all - but landing Reese would certainly be a positive in locking down some of the state's best prospects.
