*** Rivals100 Michigan tight end commit Louis Hansen and Rivals100 offensive line target Drew Kendall spent the day golfing together today out in New England. I spoke to both Hansen and Kendall, and they didn't try to hide anything. They spent a lot of the day having fun competing each other over 18 holes, but a good amount of time revolved around the obvious — Michigan.
*** Kendall is set to make a decision before the end of next month. He knows Michigan numbers are getting tight along the offensive line, and he doesn't want to take it into August. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh spoke to Kendall and his mother about a week ago as I reported, and offensive line coach Ed Warinner has been in constant contact. Kendall feels comfortable around both as well as the entire Michigan program. Right now, I still feel like Michigan leads. Boston College, where his father played, Duke and Stanford are the other major suitors with Penn State and Virginia still hanging around as well.
*** Here is what Kendall had to say about spending the day golfing with Hansen: "It was a lot of fun. It was great to get outside and enjoy the day. It's really nice out here. It's been fun getting recruited (by Hansen). He's been one of my good friends. We've been going on visits together. Just getting to come out here and play golf with him was great. I've just been talking to him about why Michigan would be a great fit for me."
*** Here is what Hansen had to say about spending the day golfing with Kendall: "It was fun. Drew is a good buddy of mine. It was good to talk football and all things Michigan, obviously. I've just been telling him the same things I told myself when I committed. It's a great business school. Obviously, football competes every year. Michigan has a lot of things that make Massachusetts kids feel at home. I've just been giving him the whole Mass to Michigan pitch."
*** Kendall and Hansen are good friends, but Warinner has also gotten freshman offensive lineman Zak Zinter involved in Kendall's process. Zinter, of course, is a New England native as well and has given Kendall a player's perspective of Michigan. Fellow freshman and New England native Kalel Mullings has known Kendall for a while and is also doing his part to help the Wolverines land him. And you can't forget about linebacker commit Casey Phinney, who is Kendall's teammate. Michigan's recruiting efforts in New England are going a long way in this race.
