*** Rivals100 Clarkston (Mich.) High offensive lineman Rocco Spindler may not take all five of his official visits as initially anticipated. Some of y'all may have caught me asking Spindler about a decision 'in the near future' on our video Q&A. Well, that's because Spindler had already told me that he's targeting August 15 as a potential decision date. Spindler knows visits are still up in the air, and he wants to be able to fully focus on his senior season.

*** So is that a good thing for Michigan? I would say so. Look, I get that there is still a lot of confidence on the Notre Dame side and that Spindler is a smart kid and likes to pander to reporters depending on which team they cover. However, from talking to sources, there is a feeling around Michigan that this one has a Braiden McGregor feel to it. I also get the sense that Spindler just feels more comfortable with the Michigan program. And of course, it's closer to home.

*** Obviously, yesterday was Spindler's birthday, and the Michigan staff made sure to celebrate. Michigan Director of Recruiting Matty Dudek texted Spindler right at midnight, and the entire offensive staff had a group call with him right after his conditioning session. And yes, Michigan quarterback commit JJ McCarthy made sure to reach out to him as well. Spindler rocked a Michigan shirt, hat and cleats on his big day. I'll have a lot more on him in Into The Blue on Monday.

*** Man, I love Donovan Edwards. He has such a great personality and is really taking a measured approach to his recruiting process. Edwards told me he could make a decision at any time, and I believe him, but he added that his preference would be to make visits in the fall and pull the trigger at some point closer to signing day. Right now, I still feel like Michigan is the team to beat here. However, he really, really likes Georgia. UGA is by far Michigan's biggest threat followed by Oklahoma. Schools like Penn State and Notre Dame are on the outside looking in.
