In the end, that may have been one of the most impressive showings by the Michigan coaching staff.

I thought going with Tice was a panic move. I would like an explanation on the late 1st half timeout.

Penalties are a concern and those friggin goofy punt formations. Defense overall was stellar.

Id say it was the most impressive by the defense though. Wisconsin is good.
By the end of the season, id say both UM and WI will be ranked in the top 5 defenses.
Im glad we got to there qb a few times, not to happy about the poor performance by our O-line though. Speight got sacked to many times.

I thought UM played o.k. in the run game but had some missed pass protection assignments.

Wisconsin is a very good defense.

I also don't think that the coaches were very good today. I've never been a fan of shutting down the offense or run1 run2 and then pass on 3rd and long when the defense is bringing pressure.

The biggest problem was not getting speed isolated vs the Wisky LBs.. We should have used Peppers / Higdon / Evans lining up in the slot or catching the ball out of the backfield to help Speight beat pressure.

AGP. With Clappy, this game is about a 24-6 loss or so. Plus, Clappy apologizes to Chryst before the game.
On the bright side, Clappy says we had a "great week of practice".

24-6? If Hoke was coach, Morris would be starting and we would have given up 14 points on INTs alone. Wisconsin would have beat us by 30. Speight did not have a great game but he knows how to manage the game. I would rather a sack then a turnover all day long.

In other news, Hoke's defense is studly...see Oregon's results. Still have no idea what the Ducks were thinking.

Does Oregon have good pad level this year?

Looks like Clappy's shutdown D has held WSU to 51 so far. The guy just gets results.

Where are the adjustments? Watt is a problem, find a way to negate him please.
Agree, d won the game. Of course we should be able to find a kicker somewhere. Have a student body try out. At least make the current kickers take note.

The third quarter had me on edge .... Wisconsin took over the momentum, and I wasn't seeing the now expected half time adjustments, wasn't looking good at all. But given the three missed field goals, the loss of our starting left tackle ... in hindsight, that was very impressive how the coaches kept the Team together to pull out the victory. In the end, I think that game bodes well for the rest of this season, and the future.

My derision of our former, jolly sideline romper is only outdone by your rightful dismissiveness of his abilities. Nice guy, found talent for sure, but he was really operating above his competency level here wasn't he?
Way over his head. But what bugs me a lot is after the 4 year train wreck (going backwards each year, remember), he came out with that "it takes 6 years to build a program" crap. If only they had given Clappy those 2 crucial years more!

The irony is that his best years came with Denard as the QB and Borges as the OC yet he made the system and his OC the scapegoats for all his ailments. Hoke was a good recruit but the reason he was a good recruit is because he would let the players do whatever they wanted - he did not hold them accountable, did not believe in competition, etc. Too loyal, too lenient, and quite frankly not a Top Tier coach by any means at all.

Now JH is winning with Hoke's players as well but quite frankly the biggest difference on the field is that every player is getting better, instead of worse - with the exception of Chesson this year. Something is up with him - injuries, etc - but the individual improvements of each player has been remarkable where as under Hoke each player regressed.

I hate to wonder - but wow, imagine if we had Gardner as a QB under JH - his mechanics would have been fixed and the dude would have put up some insane numbers with his skills. Look at what JH did with Kapernick.

Agreed, our prospects for last year were disastrous and only slightly better for this year under Hoke. I thought they would have likely gone 5-7 last year under him in 2015 (Shane at QB) and perhaps been 6-6 this year (Shane again?). The program was going nowhere with him, it was delusional for him to think otherwise. All he had to hang his hat on were close games vs OSU and a fortune-laden 11-2 season that should have been 9-4 or 8-5.
