Now that the Big Ten has recommitted to playing, I think the restart with the robust safety precautions will actually help recruiting in the long run instead of hurting. The Big Ten schools can now walk into the homes of recruits and honestly say - "we had to make sure it was safe before we went forward". Now I'm sure the SEC programs will still use the "we care more about football here" approach. But they were going to do that anyways. There is no question that the southern schools approach things differently. The Big Ten should lean into that and make a distinction. I think its a win for the type of recruits Michigan goes after in particular. Especially for a coach like Harbaugh, who I think uses the home away from home approach when recruiting, I think this can be a net benefit. Of course this all assumes we actually end up having games. Just my hot take for today.
