My understanding if this report is correct a scholarship won't count against the limit if that player returns to play at the same school. It will if that player opts to transfer and play for another school.
However, several of the incoming freshmen are big-time and their play will demand playing time.
I'm not sure how the minutes play out if all four of Smith, Davis, Brooks and Brown came back. Franz coming back is another story.
Smith and Davis fit no matter how you break it down. Brooks and Brown makes the lineup projection a little more complicated even though Brown will probably want to turn pro.
Davis would allow Diabate and Dickinson to be on the floor together most nights, which would be lethal in this lineup and the give the Big Ten a lot of problems.
I love all six of our recruits and happen to believe Barnes is the best recruit in the class and one who could eventually be a lottery pick down the road. He'll be hard to keep off the floor as will Houstan's elite spot up shooting however.
PG - Smith, Collins
2G - Franz, Zeb, Bufkin
SF - Houstan, Barnes, Bufkin
PF - Diabate, Johns, Williams
CT - Dickinson, Davis
The downside of this is Wisconsin will likely be the oldest team in the NBA again and Joshua Langford will never leave East Lansing ...
An NCAA spokesperson told the Union-Tribune on Wednesday night that “the additional eligibility is only at the current school” but clarified that Thursday morning.
“The eligibility is available at another school,” the spokesperson said in a subsequent email, “but the scholarship will count against team limits. If a student-athlete stays at their current school but has exhausted eligibility, their aid doesn’t count against team limits.”
