Twas the week before the playoffs when the Big House was closed
Not a buckeye was stirring; their hopes had been hosed.
The helmets were painted and polished with care,
ready for battle, and ready to wear.

The fans were all nestled and snug in their beds
while visions of victory danced in their heads.
Mom in her jersey, and I in my cap,
had just settled down with our bowl seating map.

When out in the lot, there arose such a noise
that I jumped out of bed to get a glimpse of the boys.
Away to the window, I flew like a flash,
Rich Eisen would have been proud of my forty-yard dash.

The moon, as it crested over Schembechler Hall,
gave a twinge of excitement to each of us all.
All of a sudden, I was in luck,
Three UM busses, and the Michigan truck.

The profile was striking, the familiar square jaw,
It had to be Jim; yes, it was coach Harbaugh.
More rapid than wideouts, all excited they came,
as Jim whistled and hollered and called them by name.

Now Haskins, Now Hinton, Now Corum and Gray!
On JJ, on Hawkins, on Stueber, and Cade!
Into the busses, they each grabbed a seat,
pulled out chicken sandwiches ready to eat.

As snowflakes across the runway fly,
the Michigan Wolverines took off to the sky.
So down to Miami, the courses they flew,
with a jet full of players and Jim Harbaugh too.

Then in a twinkling, you could feel the heat rise,
as the Michigan nation gets after the prize.
The coaches and players are ready to go,
It won't be long now 'til the start of the show.

Kirby was dressed all in black, gray, and red,
He looked like a buckeye; I just shook my head.
A bundle of cash he had flung on his back,
and he looked like a booster just opening his pack.

His eyes-how they twinkled, his dimples how merry,
his cheeks were like roses from drinking way too much sherry.
His sweet southern charm was as kind as could be
as he talked about Michigan and said, let's wait and see.

So the stage is all set, and we're ready to go,
the playoffs are here, and I'm ready to crow.
Our offense is good, and the defense is primed,
so "why not us" it could be our time.

In preseason picks, we weren't to be found,
but each new opponent felt our ground and pound.
Early predictions gave way to the wins,
The players and coaches showed they were all in.

So the AD and boosters stuck with Jim and his crew.
Who's got it better than us? I guess Jim really knew.

Noooobody!

Merry Christmas!
Go Blue!
